Emoluments: The GDSs are paid emoluments in form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA), which carry an annual increase of 3%, subject to fulfillment of conditions, as given in the GDS Rules. They are also entitled to Dearness Allowance on TRCA, as declared by the Govt. of India from time to time.
The initial engagement of GDS is made in the following basic TRCA Slabs:
>> BPM: Rs.12,000-Rs.29,380/-
>> ABPM/Dak Sevaks: Rs.10,000-Rs.24,470/-

Eligibility Criteria of India Post Recruitment
Age Limit: Age of the candidates must be between 18 to 40 years as on the last date of submission of the application.
Age Relaxation: The category-wise age relaxation is as mentioned below.
>> SC/ ST: 5 years
>> OBC: 3 years
>> PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
>> PwD (OBC): 13 years
>> PwD (SC/ ST): 15 years
Educational Qualification: Educational qualification for engagement of GDS is Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India.
Local Language Proficiency: The applicant should have studied the local language at least up to 10th Standard from a recognized board.
Other Criteria: Other requisite criteria are:
i. Knowledge of computer
ii. Knowledge of cycling
iii. Adequate means of livelihood

Selection Process of India Post GDS Recruitment
Shortlisting Stage: India Post’s GDS recruitment process involves a shortlisting stage. The Department will publish the names of shortlisted applicants on the GDS Online Portal. Successful candidates will be notified of their selection, as well as the dates for physical verification, via SMS to their registered mobile number and email to their registered address.
Merit List: Selection for the merit list is based on the marks obtained in the 10th standard Secondary School Examination from recognized boards. Grades or points will be converted to marks, and the resulting percentage will be calculated to four decimal places for accuracy.
Physical Verification of Documents: Shortlisted candidates must report to the designated Divisional/Unit Head office within 15 days of the shortlisting announcement. This visit is for physical document verification and to complete the remaining engagement formalities.
Final Selection:After successful verification by the Divisional Head, candidates must complete pre-engagement formalities, including a 3-day basic training and accommodation arrangements, within 30 days of receiving the provisional engagement offer. Failure to complete these formalities or join within this 30-day period will result in immediate cancellation of candidature, and the position will be offered to the next eligible candidate.
